The 10 Best Beaches in Thailand

Thailand offers some of the most beautiful islands in the world.

The country is a paradise for beach lovers since it has more than 3200 kilometers of coastline and 8000 islands.
There really is something for everyone: miles of white sand beaches,
secluded islands and rocky bays.

Dive, climb or relax all day!

  1. Mu Ko Similan National Park – Koh Tachai

Diver’s paradise

Thailand’s most beautiful island is Koh Tachai, which is part of a national marine park and lies off the coast of Phang Nga. As this is a wilderness site, visitors are only allowed to dock as part of a day trip. The sand is white and soft as velvet and the water is crystal clear turquoise. Besides sunbathing and swimming, visitors enjoy snorkeling, where they can observe colorful corals and fish and more occasionally sea turtles. The island is world famous for its proximity to Tachai Point, a renowned spot for spotting manta rays and leopard sharks.

  1. Koh Lipe – Sunset Beach

Magical sunrises and sunsets in southern Thailand

The island of Koh Lipe in southern Thailand offers visitors beautiful seaside scenery: the most beautiful of these is at Sunset Beach in the west. This beach has it all: golden sand, clear water and sunbathing. Not to mention the breathtaking sunsets. Most visitors come in the early evening to enjoy it, so the beach is almost deserted during the day. Mainly wild, there are still some outdoor restaurants. There is also the Sunrise beach located to the east to admire sunrises, just as magical.

  1. Koh Lanta – Klong Dao Beach

Romantic sunsets

Klong Dao Beach is on the island of Koh Lanta , in the south of the country, in the Andaman Sea. The beach is very clean and offers fine white sand. It is located on the west coast of the island, in a rather large bay. The water is at the right temperature, clear and invites you to enjoy a moment of swimming in peace. We advise you to stay there until early evening, Klong Dao will deliver one of the most magical sunsets in the kingdom.

  1. Koh Muk – Ao Kham Beach

Meet the hermit crabs

The island of Koh Muk, in the Thai province of Trat, is a real paradise that remains unknown to Westerners. Koh Muk offers great beaches and a coral cave for snorkeling. Ao Kham Beach offers visitors clear, warm waters, as well as fine sand. You won’t find sun loungers here, the place is uncrowded and the few visitors enjoy their privacy. Early in the morning, you can watch hermit crabs retreat to their nests, leaving ripples on the sand.

  1. Krabi – Railay Beach

A paradise of white sand and crystal clear water and limestone cliffs

Let’s not be afraid of words, Railay Beach in Krabi is certainly one of the most beautiful beaches in Thailand, not to say in Asia. The limestone cliffs stack and preserve the natural beauty of the various bays. The beach surrounded by coconut trees invites you to enjoy the clear waters of the gulf. On some rocks, you can see climbers trying to see the landscape from higher up. The monkeys that live here make signs of their presence and will live with you during your stay.

  1. Phuket – Freedom Beach

A hidden paradise

Freedom Beach in Phuket is both so close and so far away. It is located in a sheltered bay, not far from the beaches of Kata and Patong, yet there are no roads leading there. On site, no deck chair or parasol available, but an idyllic setting made of coconut trees and turquoise water. Be careful, this paradise can only be reached by boat or by a small trek from the jungle. Freedom Beach is also called the pearl of Phuket. You will think for a moment that you are in the Maldives.

  1. Khao Lak – Nang Thong Beach

Fine sandy beach as far as the eye can see

Nang Thong Beach is located in Khao Lak, in the south of the country. It offers visitors mile-long golden beaches and shallow waters. Palm trees line the beach and you can see the village of La On. There’s something for everyone: relaxing massages, spicy curries, freshly caught fish and relaxing bars with music. A day at the beach reaches its peak romance when the sun slowly disappears behind the small beach lighthouse and the sand shimmers in shades of red.

  1. Surat Thani – Koh Nang Yuan

The perfect place for your photos

The island of Koh Nang Yuan, located not far from Koh Samui and Koh Tao, is a private property. Clear sea water meets an accessible beach ideal for relaxing. Divers look for triggerfish and parrotfish. Throughout the day, you can observe how the beach changes with the tide. When visiting Koh Nang Yuan, don’t forget to climb up to the iconic viewpoint to take a memorable photo.

  1. Koh Samui – Maenam Beach

Peaceful Koh Samui

Maenam Beach is located in the north of the island of Koh Samui, near the village of the same name. The beach is about seven kilometers long and not too popular. Coarse-grained sand meets crystal clear sea water here. Thanks to the presence of the surrounding hotels, the beach is very clean and there are practically no stones. The calm sea seems transparent, you may spot a small fish or two keeping you company as you swim. Locals like to go west of the beach to relax and eat grilled chicken or papaya salad. Do not hesitate to join them!

  1. Koh Chang – White Sand Beach

An idyll on a beach not far from Bangkok

The white sand beach, as its name suggests, shines with its white sand. It is the longest and most beautiful beach on the island and is perfect for beach walks. Sit in the shade of a coconut tree and enjoy the sea breeze. Swim in the warm sea or explore the nearby village. The restaurants offer specialties for all tastes and the souvenir shops invite you to stroll quietly. Please note that in high season the beach can be very crowded. Our advice: go north of the beach. There, the quality of the sand is even better and there are fewer people.

Here are the ten most beautiful beaches in Thailand. Some are located in a small bay and others stretch for miles. From the accessible beach to the most private, which one made you want the most? Let us know !
